Why Adventure Boy? How are we different?
We are really passionate about sustainability; one of the driving forces behind us setting up Adventure Boy was the desire to create really good quality children’s clothing that was as eco-friendly as possible. Not throw away, not quick and cheap, but instead quality materials, made to last; to be passed on from sibling to sibling, to friends and family. We wanted to use organic cotton, sustainably sourced and long lasting, to have as limited impact on the environment as possible.
In line with this is our strict policy on plastic-free packaging; we want your lovely items to arrive with you safely packaged up, but in a way that keeps our small business sustainable and eco-aware. It can all be recycled and at no extra cost to you. Our postage and packaging is free.
We have two boys (they are a huge part of our inspiration, and are very heavily involved in the designs). As a parent, much of the clothing we kept finding on the high street just didn’t match up to our desire to buy quality sustainable organic clothing, that meant something. Everything was blue, everything had a super hero or a truck on it. Don’t get me wrong our boys have loved super heroes and trucks! But I didn’t want them having to wear this stereotypical, fairly boring and often cheap clothing. I felt strongly that buying less, but buying well, and then passing them on to younger siblings and cousins and friends was the best approach to kids fashion. I didn’t like the idea of dressing them in slogans that the high street said ‘boys should like’ because hey we all like the same things, and we don’t care about where our kids clothes come from. Because actually I do. I do care what they wear and how it has got here. And ultimately where it goes next.
Hence Adventure Boy was born.
Adventure for Christmas?
Sooo we have tried really hard to design a range of clothing for girls and boys (much of it gender neutral) that is inspired by and celebrates the spirit of adventure, a love of the outdoors (the best place to be) and a sense of curiosity and having time to explore the big wide world. And most importantly, all of it is organic cotton, sustainably sourced, eco-friendly, plastic free and perfect for handing down once it gets too small.
We know things come at a cost, and that it can be so hard to juggle it all, and we have tried hard to keep our costs as low as possible. We hope that buying less but buying good quality, that genuinely lasts and can be used by lots of family members, is a really good way to look at children’s clothing.
So adventure for Christmas? Sounds perfect to me. A great gift, we hope, for all little ones that love the outdoors.
